DraftKings on the Disruptor 50 List

Why did DraftKings Made on the Disruptor 50 list instead of FanDuel?

DraftKings was included on this year’s Disruptor 50 list at CNBC 2015. Even though there were some talks that DraftKings will go public, the CEO of the company said that it was “the last thing on our minds”.

The Disruptor 50 list

DraftKings has become a very popular DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) company through CNBC. Its popularity was rapidly increasing, so it found itself on the top 50 list.
Still, the public expected that among this list, FanDuel will be found instead of DraftKings. Why DraftKings was chosen instead of FanDuel is a question that cannot be answered, even though the public posed many different opinions. Since the beginning of the year, FanDuel was the leader in the field.

Why was FanDuel expected to be on the list?

The company is founded in 2009 and since then it only grew, and continues to do today. It is settled in New York. The amount of money they pay weekly is insanely high and of course, the public loves that. FanDuel offers many different games which last only one day or one week. You can select your entry fee, prize, practice mode etc. There are many combinations and variations you can try and increase your chances of winning. They say their mission is to “transform sports with one-day fantasy sports games”. They have a great selection of games, fast game play, HUGE prizes and guaranteed excitement. FanDuel has grown to be the market leader in its field of one-day fantasy sports. The weekly money for prizes increased up to $10 million. Until now, they have given away $560 million for prizes. There are over 30 000 daily leagues. The company has 125 employees and that number grows with the growth of the company.

Same as the rumors about DraftKings, the public suspects that FanDuel will also go public. They still haven’t confirmed nor denied the statement. One thing is clear however that the ongoing revelry of Draftkings Vs Fanduel will continue. With Amaya Pokerstars soon entering the Daily Fantasy Sports world another global player will be born and not to be underestimated.
